Day 03_The Nude and My Death

We had a nude model to draw from in our most recent class.
I'd have to say, this guy was in general, quite fun to draw.
He had good poses and an interesting body shape.

In conjunction with my basic synopsis of the pictures yet to come,
this week has been utterly terrible. I've been fighting a cold that seems to just
get worse and worse.  I would of had more than my 52 gestures, but had to leave early
because of breathingproblems. I'm really just want this cold to go away so I can
be back to normal. When I am doing better, I will post some sketches I did from
YouTube videosto make up for what I had missed when leaving class early.

Ready to actually see the gestures?
I shall quite speaking, and let you progress through the post.

Exercise 01_The First Exercise

This week has not been a good week.
First, my carpal tunnel flared up and then I get sick.
The all-up-in-the-head sick.
Eugh....

Well, this is the first homework exercise for my Cafe Sketch class.
The prompt was:

"For your first exercise outside of our normal drawing sessions, please do the following:
-Find three (3) classic European drawings or paintings online from between the sixteenth (16th ) and nineteenth (19th ) Centuries, with each painting containing no fewer than five (5) figures.-Lean towards more dynamic compositions –i.e., ones that have a variety of poses, depth, and employ weight shift and/or foreshortening.-Recreate each painting into a line drawing on a single page in your sketchbook, converting the human forms into primitives (spheres, elliptical solids, cylinders, cubes, rectilinear solids, cones).
Concentrate on drawing volumes. Just as in class, start lightly, gradually working darker with more confident marks. You may make the arms and legs cylindrical or rectilinear solids, while the torso and waist can be cube-like."

So, whether I like these or not, ici.

WarmUp_08292013

Started my second day of Animation III by watching Symphony Hour.
It is a Mickey Mouse clip and well, it's was unexpecting.
If you haven't seen it, go do it. NOW.

No difference in the two images.
I just originally drawn in the bottom, colored one.
Thought I should make it look "normal" and just post both.
Hope you like.

Day 02_The Clippers Sail The Page

Gettin' some creative titles all up on here. c;
Besides my cornyness, here is the sketches I did at the Columbus Clippers Minor League Baseball teams game on Wednesday night.
I'm not too proud of these but, the more you gesture, the better the gesturing shall become.

Day 01_The Magic of Freeze Frame and Classmates

Hey, hey, hey! This is my blog for my Cafe Sketch Class for Animators, Fall 2013.
These sketches are from my first class session after intros and knowledge.
They include my classmates holding props and posing so we had a live model to gesture with.
Towards the end, the sketches include scenes from The Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin and How to Dance to Get Lucky feat. Soul Train.

End Classmate Gestures. Start Charlie Chaplin and his awesomeness.

End Charlie and start Soul Train.

End of transmission...
